Report #12     Sunday, January 11, 2026    Sea Day #3 Of 3 Enroute To Icoaraci, Belem, Brazil----Mostly Cloudy With Some Sun---81 Degrees, 79% Humidity, 15mph Winds-----Casual Dress

Doing a little more research, we discovered that a rocket was scheduled to launch from French Guiana yesterday but was cancelled at the last minute.  That may have been the rocket we happened to take some pictures of.  Another rocket was launched from Florida instead.  Now that would have been something to see if it had occurred.

Today is Sunday and typically Brunch Day in the dining room if it falls on a sea day.  Well, checking the Daily newsletter, we could not find any mention of this later meal with the exception that the dining room opened at 10am to 1pm, brunch hours.  It was breakfast as usual for us at 8am, and it was more crowded today with Neptune guests being that the dining room was closed.

Checking up on our "fix-it" list, one of the front desk reps paid a visit to our room to see what had been done so far.   Another item had to be added to that list and that was the shower head.  It broke this morning.  The damp carpet seemed to be dry, but the bathroom exhaust fan was still inoperable.  He put that in his notes and promised it would all be fixed today.  Hmmmm, we shall see.

One of us went for a morning promenade walk, while the other stayed behind to watch the workers come and go for an hour.  The air-conditioning fellows dropped the ceiling outside the bathroom and pulled everything apart from what I could see.   This was not going to be an easy job.  They were still at work outside in the hall when Bill returned.  No doubt there was a major block in the system, and it was a matter of time that they would locate it. And it still might not happen today.

We went for a walk and when we returned, the guys were gone.  Was the fan fixed?  Not exactly, but we had some suction.  Kumar, our rep, phoned and said the workers will have to adjust all of the rooms on this part of the deck to allow a more even flow among them, giving us more movement.  But it would have to be tomorrow morning.   Fine with us.  And enough of that story.

Captain Rens came on with his talk and said the ship was 1 degree above the Equator.  It was time for the King Neptune Ceremony at the Sea View Pool at 1pm.   Today's temperature was 81 degrees with 79% humidity.  The winds were 14.5 mph and we were 230 nautical miles to Belem.  A 5-foot swell kept some of us off balance a bit as we did have some motion of the ocean.  The skies were mostly cloudy and will remain the same for tomorrow.

Lunch was in the Lido with nicely-made custom salads and two slices of cheese pizza.    It was already close to 3pm, and we tried to keep our meal light.  Then we sat at the aft pool after the worst of the King Neptune mess was cleaned up.  Since we had so much going on in our room, we missed the ceremony.   Of course, we have seen many of these and know them by heart now.   Later in the afternoon, we both received the smaller stickers with the "Crossing the Equator" info on them.  So far we have not gotten the small booklets to put them in, but we are sure they will come in time.

There was a port talk on tomorrow's stop, Belem, Brazil at 11am.  We have been there many times, so we are not certain what our plans are right now.  No tours were booked by us.  It will be a tender port as well as an hour bus ride to Belem from the port town of Icoaraci.  The Captain said it will be sunny and hot, but the map across from the Library Café showed three drops of rain.  Wonder who is correct?   Maybe they both are right.

We started watching the 49er and Eagles football game at 6:30pm in our room.  We went to dinner where our waiters served us in a timely manner as always.  We had one smoked chicken starter, one bowl of wonton soup and two different salads.  Mains were sliced lamb but with the roasted duck sides.  The other one of us had the fettucine with a beef rib meat sauce which was excellent.  Desserts were one meringue berry whipped cream in a jar treat, and a sliced banana with chocolate dip.    We were back to the room before the last quarter and watched as the 49ers won the game.  Good way to end another crazy type of day.
