Another day at sea, and another day closer to Australia. The weather has improved slightly, with a warm breeze blowing across the decks. Although it remained mostly cloudy with a hint of sun, it still was not a “pool” day.
Some of the talks in the Queen’s Lounge have included what to see and do in Hobart to Fremantle. We are still looking for Sydney talks on TV, as they probably happened last week. Most all of the port talks are followed by previews of the ship’s tours available, of course.
The test kitchen has a new chef by the name of Mitchell Tait. We only attended one of these classes in the beginning of the cruise, but have rather enjoyed watching some of the pre-recorded demos on TV. One of us is a fairly accomplished baker, but there is always room for learning new tricks. Today’s presentation was making Margherita pizza from scratch. How perfect was that subject?
A new guest speaker, Dr. Denny Whitford, continued the series on ocean waves, a great subject for the area we are in right now. Although the perfect storm is something we hope to never experience.
Wajang movies are shown at least twice on these sea days. Last year, a group paid to use the theater in the afternoon for a private presentation. That did not sit well with the PM show folks. Guess someone in charge was listening for a change.
Australian opals and South Seas pearls are being previewed somewhere every day now. There are ads left daily in our mail slots to remind us of presentations and grand unveilings. One thing we have not noticed yet, is the art shows. These will probably appear towards the end of April.
The best part of the day was having lunch with our buddy, Barb. So nice to catch up on news, while we all enjoyed our mini-burgers. Up on deck five, we noticed that there was a Mariner brunch in session. This may not be exactly correct, but we were told that 56 passengers were getting off in Sydney, and about the same amount were joining. This will be the first official segment of the world cruise. And to add to that, there was a grand activity voucher redemption for Amazon Gift Cards today.
Finally found time for a movie this afternoon…..Star Trek Beyond. Not new, but we have not seen it yet. Entertaining, but we would have to watch it again to get the story behind the movie. We had a chuckle over the fact that this series was what we watched back in the 1960’s, over 50 years ago. Who would think it would still be around that many years later? Different actors, but a continuing saga…..
Dinner found two good entrees on the menu – short ribs and meatballs and spaghetti. Don’t laugh, their Italian choices can be tasty, and even the chef’s recommended meal, like tonight.
A variety show featured the duo of Ruben Vilagrand and Annie Gong, however, with a big day coming up, most of us called it a night. We’re all feeling the effects of two days of time changes. Even though it is back two hours, it takes time to adjust.
