Report #29 Alofi, Niue January 28, 2018 Sunday 82 degrees & chance of rain Part #2 Of 4 80 Pictures

Our hike continued……

The scenery was much the same

Long road around the island

It was very green due to lots of rain

A nightclub

Clayton’s Club – funny for us because we have one at home called the Clayton Club

No one around

Small local homes are buried in these trees

Auto shop

Buildings along the way

Fish packing plant

Looked like a nice bar, but locked up today

Niue Fish Processors

Biggest buildings here

Another Sea Track

Hale Tahi Amanau Sea Track

The narrow rock-carved trail down the ravine

This is as far as I dare to go

Straight down from this point

No beach, just surf and coral

Caves along the edge

A hiding place for sea snakes

That is straight down a vertical ladder

Shallow and sharp coral beds

Home to reef fish and crabs

Hidden caves

Great for photos, not swimming

Looks like rain

More erosion

These are large black fish

Very shallow reef

Back up on the roadside

A very important sign

Nice home with a boat and a truck

Which way to go?

Structure at the quarry

Used to grind coral into sand

Sand used to repair roads

The road narrowed from here

Guess what?  It poured big time

No wonder it is so lush and green

So happy we brought the umbrellas

It actually felt good

Tropical growth

Vines going up the trees

The way to the garbage dump

A place for the chickens

Over-growth

Ferns here

Who knows what’s in the jungle?

Like these…..yikes

Really?  A message for the islanders.

Secluded property

Looks cool right?  Not

At least there are no cars

The rain had stopped by now

Turning the forest floor colorful

Looking the same

No Tepa Point in sight

Oh no…..a gnome.  A sign for us to go back.

So we turned around

Looking for more critters

Just plants

Foliage growing out of the rock

The jungle side of the island

One shore bird

A field for campers we think

The only café opened today

Still no traffic

The ship waits

A breeze blew through here

We feel many guests stayed onboard

One trail down to the water

A coconut crab

Grass was really wet

Flowering trees of the tropics

Strolling the village

Guests found a place to buy drinks

Walk back down to the wharf

Long way down

Yachts do come here during whale season
