Report #4 Tracy Arm & Sawyer Glacier, Alaska July 6,2017 Friday Cloudy & 68 degrees Part #2 Of 3 72 Pictures

More photos…..

Cloudy skies over the Sawyer Glacier

Small sight-seeing boats joined us up the fjord

Pretty as a postcard

This waterfall was frozen

Lower part of the falls

Getting towards the end

Another postcard view

A sight-seeing ferry

Glacier water give the fjord a pretty color

Many passengers came out on the bow today

Another type of bird

Turning the bend

A smaller boat for viewing

Day trips can come out of Juneau

Another unidentifiable duck

Small boat move faster than us

Turned the corner

A melting bergie bit

A patch of green in the granite

Running like a faucet

Follow that boat

A comfortable way to travel

Scenic at every turn

Two boats ahead of us

Starting to see more ice

Was not as cold as it looked

Large glacier

More water

More ice

Larger icebergs

Looking for harbor seals

Seals like to come up fjords to escape predators

Some blue color in this one

Bet it is cold up high

Verdant slopes

Sawyer Glacier in the center

Much more ice in the water

Glaciers actually move towards the water

Small boat dodging the ice

Sometimes this ice will freeze over

Larger bergs on the banks

There has to be some seals here

Some of the ice was dirty with glacial sand and rock

Can we go any further?

Yes, but carefully

Look what we saw……a harbor seal

We could see the seal moving

Sunning on the ice

Only saw one

Looking for more seals

Large ice now

Good thing they are near the banks

Could be seals on these

More threads of waterfalls

Looked cold

Green

These bergs were moved away from the ship by the side thrusters

Perfect reflection

Rocks of ice on top

But no seals

Floating quietly

These did not stop our sailing

Growing sideways

Unusual growth

Taller peaks

More ice

Looked like a seal

Large bergie bit

We did hit a few of these

Birds, not seals

This can freeze over at night

This will block our passage
